Whitening/Bleaching
Dental bleaching can be used to correct many tooth discolorations. These discolorations may have been caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to teeth. Using the latest in bleaching technology, we can offer a safe method for creating a beautiful, "brilliant" smile. In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, crowns or veneers may be the only choice. But because of the low cost of bleaching treatments, bleaching is nearly always worth the initial treatment. Results vary greatly, and we can help create realistic expectations at a short consultation before scheduling the procedure.
There are a variety of methods that can be used to lighten teeth. The most cost-effective, safest technique available is professional, dentist supervised whitening. Dr. House can decide what type of whitening is best for you based on the origin of discoloration, your esthetic needs, the condition of your teeth, and your lifestyle. The following are types of bleaching our office provides:
Traditional Tray Bleaching - Impressions of your teeth are taken to make a customized bleaching tray. After your bleaching tray is made, you will insert the whitening material. The customized tray is worn over your teeth all night, or for a 4-6 hour period during the day. The active ingredient, carbamide peroxide, is both safe and effective at removing most stains, and available in two strengths 15% for most stains, and 20% for stubborn discolorations.
